Barbell Lying Extension

4 steps Updated 29/08/2026

Barbell Lying Extension is a exercise targeting Triceps (Triceps Brachii) using Barbell.

Step by step

How to perform it

  1. Lie on a flat bench with your feet flat on the floor, holding a barbell with an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart. Your arms should be fully extended above your chest.
  2. Slowly lower the barbell by bending your elbows, bringing the barbell towards over your forehead.
  3. When the barbell is behind your head, reverse the movement by extending your elbows to return the barbell to the starting position.
  4. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then carefully rack the barbell back onto the bench press rack.
