Barbell Seated Twist

4 steps Updated 29/08/2026

Barbell Seated Twist is a free weights exercise targeting Obliques (External Obliques, Internal Obliques) using Barbell.

Step by step

How to perform it

  1. Sit on a bench with your feet flat on the floor, holding a barbell across your upper back with an overhand grip, hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Keep your back straight and your core engaged.
  2. Begin by rotating your torso to the right, keeping your hips and lower body stationary. Rotate until you feel a stretch in your obliques.
  3. Reverse the movement, rotating your torso to the left, again keeping your hips and lower body stationary.
  4. Repeat the rotation to both sides for the desired number of repetitions.
