Barbell Inclined Bench Press

4 steps Updated 29/08/2026

Barbell Inclined Bench Press is a exercise targeting Upper Chest (Clavicular Head of the Pectoralis Major) using Barbell.

Step by step

How to perform it

  1. Lie on an incline bench set at a 45 degree angle. Grip the barbell with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, and hold the barbell directly above your chest with your arms fully extended.
  2. Slowly lower the barbell to your upper chest, keeping your elbows at a 45-degree angle to your body.
  3. Press the barbell back up to the starting position by extending your arms fully, focusing on using your chest.
  4. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then carefully rack the barbell back onto the bench press rack.
