4 steps Updated 29/08/2026
Resistance Band Standing Balance Hip Abduction is a resistance exercise targeting Hip Abductors (Gluteus Medius, Tensor Fasciae Latae) using Resistance Band.
How to perform it
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and place a loop resistance band around your thighs, just above your knees. Place your hands on your hips for balance.
- Shift your weight onto your right leg and lift your left foot slightly off the floor.
- Keeping your left leg straight, lift it to the side against the band's resistance, squeezing your hip abductors at the top of the movement.
- Slowly return your leg to the starting position with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch to the right leg.
